The Rail Worker is responsible for safely loading and securing freight to railcars, performing routine equipment inspections, and maintaining a clean, compliant work area. This position requires hands-on use of various tools, operation of trucks and forklifts, and adherence to safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and internal quality standards.
Shift Information Swing Shift 4 by 4
- Full-time position
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Work may include outdoor exposure and varying weather conditions
- Some tasks require working at heights greater than 4' with use of PFPS (Personal Fall Protection System)
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts and trucks to transport customer orders and load them onto railcars using pneumatic and gas-powered tools (e.g., chainsaw, nail gun, tensioner, hammer).
- Inspect, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment; promptly report any malfunctions or hazards.
- Follow all Safe Job Instructions (SJIs), AAR loading guidelines, and federal, state, and local rail operation regulations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly rail area and assist with general yard and mill work as needed.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members, and report any issues, incidents, or hazards immediately.

Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Experience
- Prior experience in rail yard, warehouse, or industrial setting a plus
- Forklift operation experience preferred
- Ability to safely operate pneumatic and gas-powered tools
- Familiarity with railcar loading standards (AAR guidelines) is a plus
- Must complete all required safety and compliance training

Pay/Benefits/Perks
- $19 Hourly
- Accrue up to five days PTO in first year. Two-weeks vacation, plus one week PTO accrue on first anniversary.
