Summary
GeneDx is seeking a Director of Business Development, Biopharma Partnerships to serve as a senior commercial leader driving the growth of our real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) partnerships with global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, digital health, and medtech organizations. This individual will own the full enterprise sales cycle — from pipeline generation through close — securing multi-million-dollar Master Service Agreements (MSAs) with top-tier pharma partners. The ideal candidate brings deep commercial and strategic expertise across digital health, RWE, pharma, and medtech, with a proven track record of closing $2M–$10M+ enterprise deals and aggressively building qualified pipeline.
Job Responsibilities
- Own and drive the enterprise sales pipeline end-to-end, from prospecting and qualification through negotiation and close, with a focus on $2M–$10M+ MSAs with pharma leaders (e.g., BMS, Takeda, GSK, Boehringer Ingelheim, and similar)
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve aggressive revenue targets, driving measurable increases in qualified pipeline and win rates
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to C-suite and VP-level stakeholders at partner organizations, articulating the value of GeneDx's real-world data and genomic assets in drug development, clinical trial optimization, and disease understanding
- Lead complex, multi-stakeholder deal structuring and negotiations, including creative and novel partnership models tailored to enterprise pharma needs
- Provide strategic input to the commercial partnerships roadmap, influencing go-to-market strategy, pricing, and product positioning based on deep market intelligence across digital health, RWE, pharma, and medtech
- Translate observed client needs and market trends into product development priorities, collaborating cross-functionally with Data Science, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Product teams
- Build and maintain a robust network of senior decision-makers across the biopharma, biotech, digital health, and medtech ecosystem
- Represent GeneDx at major industry conferences, thought leadership events, and partner forums to elevate brand visibility and generate inbound opportunities
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and leverage market intelligence, ensuring commercial outcomes are optimized through data-driven targeting
- Coordinate cross-functional resources (implementation, data science, medical affairs) to support partnership discussions and ensure seamless project execution
- Occasional travel to meet with clients and attend conferences will also be expected

Education, Experience, and Skills
- 12+ years of progressive experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or enterprise sales within biopharma, genomics, digital health, RWE, or data/analytics
- Proven track record of closing $2M–$10M+ enterprise deals (MSAs, multi-year partnerships) with major pharmaceutical companies
- Deep commercial and strategic expertise spanning digital health, real-world evidence (RWE), pharma, and medtech — with demonstrated ability to navigate complex enterprise sales cycles
- Demonstrated ability to aggressively build and manage qualified pipeline, with measurable results (e.g., X% increase in qualified pipeline, X%+ improvement in win rates)
- Established network of senior contacts at pharma/biotech companies including organizations like BMS, Takeda, GSK, Boehringer Ingelheim, and similar
- Expertise selling real-world data or real-world evidence solutions, with strong understanding of how RWD/RWE is utilized in drug development, regulatory submissions, and commercial strategy
- Exceptional executive presence with the ability to engage, influence, and close at the C-suite and VP level
- Highly proactive hunter mentality — self-directed, aggressive prospector who thrives in building new markets
- Strong analytical mindset with experience leveraging data to identify trends, inform strategy, and drive commercial outcomes
- Genetics/genomics background strongly preferred (e.g., Master's degree or higher in genetics, molecular biology, or related field)
- MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Collaborative team player who identifies and assumes roles that drive company success

This is a fully remote position. The employee will work from a home office or other suitable remote location with reliable high-speed internet access. Work is performed in a climate-controlled environment using standard office equipment including computer, phone, and video conferencing tools. Your standard work schedule and hours will be established in collaboration with your leader and may be adjusted to align with evolving business needs.
