About the Role
As our first Director of People Operations, you will build and scale the People function from the ground up, owning everything from compensation strategy to multi-state compliance to employee experience. You'll manage both our corporate workforce (> 50 FTEs) and clinical workforce (>250 FTE, PTE & 1099 providers), designing tools and systems to support our entire organization.
The ideal candidate has 7-10 years in people operations with 3+ years in a managerial capacity, including 2-3 years at a Series A/B digital health company with large PTE/FTE and contracted teams. You're a builder-operator who's equally comfortable designing leveling frameworks to building automation workflows in HR systems, with particular expertise in blended workforce models and multi-state compliance.
What you'll do
Own multi-state HR compliance and entity management across 25+ states, including state registrations, foreign qualifications, and ongoing compliance monitoringPartner with leadership on headcount planning, organizational design, and infrastructure development to support our scaling corporate and clinical workforces (W-2 and 1099)Design and implement compensation strategy, leveling guides, performance frameworks, and total rewards programs across corporate and clinical workforces (FTE and PTE)Manage payroll operations including reviewing bi-weekly payrolls, troubleshooting issues, processing corrections, managing complex off-cycle scenarios (leaves, terminations), and ensuring accuracy across all pay cyclesOversee all HR systems, tools, and vendor relationships including Rippling, Lever, Checkr, 401k, and othersManage benefits administration including enrollment, COBRA setup, carrier coordination, and benefits broker managementOversee recruiting and onboarding processes for corporate teams, building scalable systems for hiring and new hire integrationManage employee relations, performance issues, and workplace challenges with empathy and sound judgment; build culture and engagement initiatives including surveys and retention strategiesOwn people ops budget and headcount planning; build analytics dashboards and partner with CEO, finance, legal, and clinical leadership on people strategy
