Director of Quality

At Vessel Technologies, we're not just building housing—we're reimagining what housing can be. Our York, PA factory manufactures large-format structural wall and floor panels used in modular apartment construction. By combining manufacturing precision with construction innovation, we are building a scalable, repeatable system for high-quality housing.

As we scale production, we are seeking a Director of Quality to architect and implement a world-class Quality Management System (QMS) from the ground up — one that enables rapid growth without compromising performance, safety, or compliance.

This is a foundational leadership role responsible for embedding ISO 9001-level rigor into a startup manufacturing environment and preparing Vessel for NTA (National Technical Authority) third-party inspection and long-term multi-factory replication.

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, or related field.

· 8+ years of quality leadership experience in manufacturing, modular construction, or industrial production environments.

· Demonstrated experience building or significantly upgrading a QMS.

· Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements (certification experience preferred but not required).

· Experience working with third-party inspection bodies or regulatory authorities.

· Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving capabilities.

· Proven ability to implement systems in fast-growing or startup environments.

· Comfortable operating as an individual contributor while building toward team leadership.

· A systems architect who can build structure from ambiguity.

· Equally comfortable drafting policy documents and troubleshooting a defect on the factory floor.

· Believes quality is built into the process — not inspected at the end.

· Understands how manufacturing discipline enables construction scale.

· Motivated by creating infrastructure that supports multi-factory expansion.

· Hands-on, pragmatic, and not bureaucratic.

Reports to: Executive Vice President of Operations

Initial scope: Individual contributor

Future scope: Build and lead a Quality team including inspectors and quality engineers as production scales.
