ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Risk Management (m/f/d), based at Pliant Oy, the group’s regulated Electronic Money Institution (EMI), is responsible for maintaining and continuously enhancing Pliant’s Risk Management framework.
This role ensures that Pliant’s Risk Management complies with regulatory requirements. While positioned within Pliant Oy’s second line of defence, the role provides group-wide support and coordination across all Pliant entities.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Acting as a key function holder under Finnish regulatory requirements and being notified to the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (FIN-FSA)
- Overall responsibility for the continuous development of the risk management framework in accordance with FIN-FSA regulations, EU legislation, and EBA guidelines.
- Maintenance and ongoing monitoring of the Risk Appetite Framework, ensuring alignment with the institution’s business strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Ownership and continuous maintenance of risk management policies, frameworks, and methodologies in close collaboration with the responsible stakeholders, e.g. Information-Security or Credit department, ensuring alignment and integration across all relevant risk areas.
- Identification, assessment, and ongoing monitoring of all material risks, including operational, ICT, cyber, outsourcing, financial, liquidity, capital, fraud, and business model risks.
- Contribution to internal capital and liquidity adequacy assessments, including stress testing and forward-looking risk assessments.
- Preparation of comprehensive and timely risk reports for the Management Board and Board of Directors, including escalation of material risk issues.
- Providing independent, risk-based advice to senior management on strategic initiatives, material changes, and key business decisions.
- Integration of risk management considerations into product development, new business initiatives, and significant changes through the New Product Approval Process.
- Oversee the outsourcing and third-party risk management framework in line with EBA Guidelines on Outsourcing Arrangements; risk assessment, approval support, and ongoing oversight of outsourcing arrangements and critical service providers in line with FIN-FSA and EBA outsourcing requirements.
- Ensuring governance-level oversight of DORA requirements, including ICT risk management frameworks, incident classification and escalation, and risks related to critical ICT third parties, in coordination with the Head of Information Security.
- Promotion of a strong risk culture and risk awareness across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management ideally within financial services, fintech, or EMI.
- Strong knowledge of EBA, DORA, and PSD2 operational risk requirements.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills at all levels.
