Your Job:
The Brooks Creative Lab imagines/designs/curates/manifests creative assets for internal and external Brooks partners. Print, digital, events, retail, packaging, visual merchandising are our canvas, and runners are our inspiration. Your work will appear in marketing initiatives for ecommerce, advertising, retail, events, social, paid media, packaging initiatives and other POP and printed materials such as workbook and sales meeting signage.
 
As the Experiential Design Lead, Retail at Brooks, you will collaborate with creative leaders in the Creative
Lab and the Brand Creative Director to deliver transformative design experiences that embody the “Let’s Run There” platform at both new and existing retail locations. Your design leadership will drive innovative local marketing brand creative strategies, encouraging consumers to engage with their local Brooks stores. Your work will directly influence how the Brooks brand is experienced in retail, fostering deeper connections with consumers and supporting business growth.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for retail experiential design, events, and local marketing, providing strategic guidance and creative leadership.
  • Establish and uphold standards for retail graphic execution, creative style guides, décor and experiential seasonal guides, and presentation design, ensuring consistency and excellence across all retail touchpoints. 
  • Lead the design and implementation of sign and graphic guides, driving a unified and compelling brand experience throughout retail environments.
  • Lead the development of 3D renderings, photo-composites, and graphics to communicate experiential intent; collaborate with Creative Strategists, production designers, and project managers to deliver scalable solutions within budgetary requirements.  
  • Oversee the creation of scaled floorplans, drawings, and 3D models to clearly communicate project needs for experiential and décor initiatives.
  • Drive brand seasonal updates and local marketing initiatives, ensuring all creative outputs align with the broader brand strategy.  
  • Lead the design and execution of store opening events, ongoing in-store experiences, and retail marketing activities, delivering innovative solutions that engage and inspire. 
  • Develop creative solutions for miscellaneous retail and local marketing needs, adapting quickly to evolving project requirements.
  • Translate briefs into compelling creative concepts across video, digital, print, store décor, window displays and other retail formats, ensuring clarity and impact in every deliverable.
  • Own the concept and design of retail experiential displays and events, collaborating with production teams and external partners to produce dimensional displays and décor elements that meet safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Prepare and present concepts to senior leadership, articulating creative strategies and solutions with confidence and clarity. 
  • Consult with creative leadership, marketing, and business partners to map out campaign strategies, design ideas, and tactical directions that achieve client objectives. 
  • Facilitate project brainstorms, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovative thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Lead the final design and production of décor elements, working with production teams and vendors to ensure deliverables meet safety, efficiency, and installation standards. 
  • Guide and review work from junior designers and freelancers, offering actionable feedback and fostering professional growth.
  • Mentor and train designers and freelancers on Brooks’ design principles and brand standards; may manage up to one direct report.  
  • Manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Present creative work confidently to internal teams and external partners, articulating design rationale and strategic intent.
  • Collaborate with Creative Lab leaders and Creative Directors to manage timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Uphold the highest standards of visual execution and design craft, continuously seeking opportunities to elevate creative output.
  • Stay current on visual and retail trends, technology, and creative tools, inspiring innovation and best practices within the team.   
  • Your Qualifications:

  • Creative portfolio demonstrating best in class graphic design, 3D modeling, environmental design, and conceptual design; please add your online portfolio link at the top of your resume when applying
  • Bachelor’s degree in a design-focused major or related field; equivalent years of experience can be considered in lieu of degree(s)
  • 7+ years of experience in design within retail, agency, or in-house creative studios with a focus on graphic design, 3D modeling, art direction, spatial/environmental design, and experiential design
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural floorplans and dimensional renderings
  • Advanced skills in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop Illustrator, InDesign); familiarity with AI tools is a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Dimension, Substance, or similar 3D/dimensional design programs
  • Demonstrated elevated and culturally relevant design aesthetic
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional environment and working with senior leadership teams
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and ensuring project goals are met
  • Self-driven, open to learning, goal oriented, strong time management skills, detail oriented
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing demands and to refocus priorities in projects; strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate how decisions can affect customers, partners, products, or other departments’ operations and/or morale
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company
  • Ability to communicate a point-of-view concisely and functional expertise within project teams and to external stakeholders
  • Ability to change the status quo – always looking at improving our products and processes while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details
  • Expected 35% travel throughout the year

  • Compensation: The pay range for this position, based out of the Brooks Seattle HQ, is $110,571 - $165,857 per year. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
