Role Summary : We are seeking a Financial Crime Risk Specialist to support our rapid growth and strengthen our KYC, AML framework. This role focuses on customer onboarding, customer co-ordination, and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with applicable laws while enabling business growth in a fast-paced fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities :
End-to-end merchant onboarding, managing document collection, verification and account activation for companies, LLPs, sole proprietorships, freelancers, trusts and other entities.
CDD & EDD, including UBO mapping - perform customer due diligence and enhanced reviews, verify ownership structures and identify ultimate beneficial owners.
Digital identity & V-CIP - execute CKYC / DigiLocker checks and conduct or coordinate Video-based Customer Identification Process per regulatory standards.
Sanctions/PEP/adverse-media screening & AML investigations - run screens, investigate alerts, escalate matches and prepare SARs/internal referrals as needed.
Cross-functional coordination & process improvement - work with Business Development, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Product and the customer to resolve cases, close gaps and improve onboarding SOPs.
Requirements :
2–4 years of experience in AML, KYC (Global KYC/KYB), or financial crime compliance, preferably within fintech, payments, NBFCs, banks, or regulated financial institutions.
Strong working knowledge of AML laws, KYC/KYB norms, CDD/EDD, UBO identification, FATCA/CRS, sanctions and PEP screening, and customer risk assessment, with hands-on experience in KYC/KYB onboarding, sourcing verification extracts from official sources, ongoing transaction review, and supporting regulatory reporting obligations.
Experience using AML screening and case management systems, with strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and familiarity with secure document management practices.
Ability to review and interpret corporate and incorporation documents (such as COI, MOA, and AOA), along with management structures, shareholding patterns, and board resolutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with merchants, request documentation, and explain regulatory requirements clearly and professionally.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple onboarding cases with clarity and composure, while meeting SLA timelines in a fast-paced environment and readily taking on new challenges.
Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or equivalent certification.
Experience with cross-border / IFSC onboarding, payments ecosystems, and familiarity with correspondent / nostro banking and SWIFT.
Prior experience in merchant-facing onboarding roles.
