Houst is looking for a hands-on Finance Operations Partner to keep the wheels on while we stabilise and rebuild senior finance capability. This is a delivery role first and foremost. You will sit right in the detail, owning day to day finance operations, fixing gaps, tightening controls, and making sure the business can run, pay people, bill clients, and report numbers we can stand behind.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sorting messy finance engines, rolling up sleeves, and bringing order. This is a stabiliser role, you will be trusted, relied on, and listened to from day one.
What you will be doing
- Own day to day finance operations across the group, including AP, AR, billing, reconciliations, and cash tracking
- Ensure accurate and timely month end close, supporting management accounts and reporting
- Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation
- Work closely with Operations, Commercial, and People and Culture to ensure clean data flow and minimal surprises
- Support multi entity and multi currency accounting requirements
- Manage Xero housekeeping, reconciliations, journals, and clean ups
- Identify risks, gaps, and inefficiencies and actually fix them
- Support audits, tax filings, and external accountants where required
- Step in wherever things are broken, unclear, or overdue
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or MBA
- 4 plus years management experience in operational finance and accounting
- Hands on experience with Xero
- Very strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Experience working in fast paced, imperfect environments
- Comfortable working without perfect information or layers of sign off
- High attention to detail and a low tolerance for nonsense
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritise when everything feels urgent
