Foreign Military Sales Technical Engineer
Work Location: Huntsville, AL
Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week; 8 hours per day in office (remote work is not authorized)

IronMountain Solutions is currently seeking a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Technical Engineer to support our customer at Redstone Arsenal, AL in the Utility Helicopter Project Office (UHPO). An ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, with 14 to 16 years of general work experience. Candidates who apply should have strong oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to work effectively with others, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously. An active and transferable DoD Secret level security clearance is required.
Education, and General Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree from an ABET accredited school and 16 years’ experience or a Master’s Degree and 14 years of experience is required.
- Knowledge of Black Hawk helicopters and their systems, subsystems and components.
- Technical Program Management experience supporting Military Aviation is preferred
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. SECRET security clearance. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
Job Duties:
- Serves on and supports one or more UHPO IPO Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program teams. Assess and derive Customer-Country unique helicopter product verification requirements.
- Performs engineering technical program management and systems engineering (SE)
- Candidate will be required to perform technical management operations (organizing, planning, and supporting) and SE execution of a technical helicopter development, integration, verification, production, modification, fielding, and sustainment.
- Assess and derive foreign-partner unique helicopter product performance and verification requirements.
- Develop and prepare program acquisition strategies, SE schedule estimates, and engineering risk assessments and mitigations.
- Obtain, assess, apply, track, and ensure verification of product airworthiness requirements.
- Develop and prepare technical requirements for CRPs to include Statement of work (SOW) and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL). Ensure CDRLs are work-flowed, reviewed, answered, and tracked using TopVue or Windchill IAW standard work. Follows
- Evaluate contractor proposals to prepare detailed technical evaluations, and support USG contract negotiations.
- Follow UHPO IPO TM processes to include development of system, item, and airworthiness qualification specifications.
- Support major program technical reviews to include, but not limited to, System Readiness Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), etc.
- Ensure aircraft products are verified (to include Army System Readiness Division (SRD) Airworthiness (AW) approved) and contract requirements are met.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Material Developer (e.g., UHPO, CCDC AvMC, ACC-R, PEO-Avn, and AMCOM) personnel.
- Monitor contractor and supplier (e.g., Sikorsky, Airbus, PIF, C5ISR, RTC, and LSF) contract performance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use tools or controls; normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms; climb stairs); and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.
