We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Fullstack Engineer, Tax to support our mission.
This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.
About the Team
TheTax team is core to Patreon’s mission, enabling creators to run real, sustainable businesses on our platform. Our work touches every dollar that flows through Patreon, from sales taxes on fan payments to income tax withholding, reporting, and remittance for creators worldwide. We build the systems that let creators confidently grow and monetize a global audience while we handle the complexity of evolving tax regulations at scale, tackling foundational product and technical challenges with both significant breadth and depth.
About the Role
Help scale and expand Patreon's tax platform, enabling creators to run compliant, sustainable businesses while getting paid accurately and on time across the globe
Lead and contribute to the development and design of tax systems supporting sales tax calculation, income tax withholding, invoicing, reporting, and remittance
Partner with product managers, designers, tax operations, and other engineers to build new finance-related solutions that meet financial/tax requirements and regulations globally
Lead development of full-stack features, with a focus on modern frontend technologies like React and TypeScript, while building reliable backend systems in Python and MySQL
Support Tax Operations and Compliance teams by debugging complex data issues and building internal tools
Contribute to a strong product-oriented engineering culture, best practices, and bringing an eye for quality and user empathy to the development process
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent
3+ years of experience in software development
Excited to maintain a high standard of quality and craft across the stack, with strong attention to user experience, data integrity, and engineering detail
Comfortable diving into both frontend and backend code to deliver end-to-end functionality
Experience designing, building, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining code in a service-oriented architecture
Proactive in communicating with your peers and cross-functional partners
Experience building products in the payments & tax domain is a plus, but not a strict requirement for this role

The posted salary range is dependent on the location and the level. This range may encompass multiple levels within the role’s job family. The final offer will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, competencies, and geographic location, aligning with the appropriate job level within Patreon’s leveling framework. For remote employees located outside CA and NY, salary may vary based on location and local market conditions.
