This job position is a foundational leadership role at the hear of Nūmi's technology. We are seeking a highly skilled and experimented Genomic Engineering Scientist and Cell Line Engineering Team Lead to join our team. In this role, you will have ownership of our genomic engineering strategy to optimise our cell lines and leading the cell line engineering team. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimising our cellular and production processes and you will contribute to the design and implementation of genomic modifications to harness the production of milk in vitro. Our ability to produce human milk in vitro depends on the quality, robustness, and evolvability of our engineered cell lines. As Genomic Engineering Scientist & Cell Line Development Team Lead, you will define and execute the genomic engineering strategy that underpins the entire company, from R&D to long-term industrial scalability. As part of your responsibilities you will be managing two experimented scientists and engineers.
Strategy and Science :
🤩 Define and drive Nūmi’s genomic engineering and cell line optimization strategy, aligned with company objectives.
🧪 Implementation of modern and historic genomic engineering editing techniques to develop mammalian cell lines.
📀 Use bioinformatics tools and databases to analyze and interpret genomic data sets.
Leadership & Team Building
👨🏻🚀 Lead, mentor, and grow a team of currently two experienced scientists/engineers, with ownership of future hiring and team expansion.
👩🏻💻 Set scientific standards, best practices, and a culture of rigor, curiosity, and accountability. Document experimental procedures, analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Cross-team & External Collaboration
👥 Collaborate with cross-functional teams, most notably the media development team, to integrate genomic modification strategies into the overall research and development strategy as well as external partners for RNAseq and cell line digital twins
🤸 Act as a key scientific interface between R&D and leadership.
Data & Intellectual Property
⚖️ Actively protect Nūmi’s know-how through invention disclosures and patent filings.
