Our Client a Zambian company dealing in wildlife conservation, tourism and hospitality, that also promotes community development through job creation, sustainable use projects, including sustainable agriculture and livelihood programmes with neighbouring communities, is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (Grader) Operator to join their team. The Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (Grader) Operator will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to create a level grade for various construction and earth-moving projects. This role demands precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate motor graders to achieve precise grading of roads, parking lots, and other surfaces.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on grading equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow project plans and specifications to execute grading tasks accurately.
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings to maintain the appropriate grade and level of material.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate work effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols on the job site.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and equipment maintenance.
- Assist in training new operators, if required.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation or equivalent experience.
- Proven 2+ years of experience operating graders or similar heavy machinery, preferably in construction or road work.
- Strong knowledge of grading techniques and soil types.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
- Good understanding of safety practices and procedures associated with heavy equipment operation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Valid Class C driver's license is required.
- Good physical ability to perform equipment operations in various weather conditions.
