1. Position Overview
The Inventory Planner works under the Deployment team and is responsible for ensuring inventory readiness to support confirmed sales orders and deployment schedules.
This role plans inventory based on signed quotations and actual project timelines, rather than long-term or speculative demand forecasts. The Inventory Planner ensures materials are available at the right time to support deployments while avoiding unnecessary overstock or urgent purchasing.
The role balances operational readiness with cash flow and working capital considerations, understanding the financial impact of buying too early, holding excess inventory, or delaying purchases.
The Inventory Planner works closely with Sales, Deployment, and Finance teams, using structured data, system reports, analysis, and regular reporting to support accurate and timely purchasing and inventory decisions.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Inventory Planning & Pipeline Alignment
- Review and monitor the sales and deployment pipeline to anticipate upcoming inventory requirements.
- Translate confirmed sales orders, signed quotations, and deployment schedules into clear inventory and purchasing plans.
- Align purchase timing with actual project execution to ensure materials are available when needed, while avoiding premature buying.
- Assess and communicate the cash flow and working capital impact of early purchasing, delayed purchasing, or excess inventory.
- Track actual material consumption versus planned usage and highlight risks or gaps early to relevant stakeholders.
B. Inventory Control & Optimization
- Maintain accurate inventory records and clear stock visibility across inventory and in-house systems.
- Define, monitor, and manage reorder points, minimum stock levels, and buffer stock where required.
- Monitor key inventory metrics including inventory turnover, stock aging, slow-moving items, and excess stock.
- Recommend practical actions to reduce dead stock, overstock, and unnecessary inventory holding costs.
C. Data Analysis, Reporting & Insights
- Build and maintain inventory tracking tools, dashboards, and reports using company systems and data sources.
- Analyse inventory movements, consumption trends, and deployment-related usage.
- Prepare regular inventory reports, including:
- Stock availability and stock level summaries
- Inventory consumption by project
- Inventory accuracy and variance analysis
- Slow-moving, aging, and excess inventory reports
- At-risk and out-of-stock items
- Inventory commitments and cash flow impact
- Present clear insights, risks, and recommendations to Deployment, Sales, and Finance teams to support decision-making.
D. Warehouse & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate inbound and outbound stock movements in line with confirmed deployment and installation schedules.
- Ensure inventory is physically available, correctly prepared, and deployment-ready at the required time and location.
- Support cycle counts and physical stock checks to ensure alignment between system records and actual stock.
- Monitor stock movement accuracy and identify, investigate, and flag discrepancies promptly.
- Work closely with the Deployment team to ensure materials are released on time to support installation activities.
E. Cross-Functional Alignment
- Work closely with the Sales team to understand confirmed deals, signed quotations, and pipeline timing.
- Coordinate with Finance to align inventory plans with budgets, cash flow targets, and working capital constraints.
Support informed decisions on purchase timing, inventory exposure, and risk through clear, data-backed analysis.
Requirements
- 3 + years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain, warehousing, or related operational roles.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
- Comfortable working with inventory systems, ERP platforms, spreadsheets (e.g. Excel), or internal tools.
- High attention to detail, with strong ownership of inventory accuracy and data quality.
- Ability to balance operational requirements with cash flow and financial impact when making inventory decisions.
- Strong communication skills in both Thai and English, spoken and written and a collaborative mindset.
