Roles & Responsibilities:
Execution Services group operates as a small corporate division and resides within technology. The role of this group is to provide technology solutions to Discretionary and Quant traders.
General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Develop execution programs using Java & C++
· Understand and own technology aspects of the firm’s primary trading platform
· Develop peripheral applications to integrate internal systems with vendor products
· Provide Level 2 support for all Execution related systems
· Generate ad hoc quantitative analysis for traders and senior management level to reflect market events
The person in this role must be a developer coming from a financial background with a desire to excel in the front office system. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of software lifecycle, design and development experience of writing multi-tier/distributed applications. In addition to strong technical skills, the candidate must have excellent communication/interpersonal skills and possess strong ability to work independently or as a team member.
A strong desire to learn and gain exposure to the business side of a trading operation is critical to success in this position.
Job Requirements:
Senior Developer:
· Ongoing design and development and maintenance of existing and new trading applications and systems.
· Must have ability to take a project from specifications to deployment
· Understand the detail architecture and implementation of the company’s applications and systems and build and expand on top of this base
· Ability to communicate via producing documentation at all levels, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating Trading systems knowledge with technology skills
· Strong knowledge of and experience in supervising and executing all phases of the technology life cycle, based on proven project management and testing methodologies
Technical skills:
· Java is preferred technology (C++ and C# is a plus).
· SQL development (working knowledge is acceptable).
· Hands on design and development experience. Should be able to specify coding standards and lead architecture/design reviews.
· A deep knowledge of technical architecture design and a good understanding of technology tools and components to reasonably argue for and against all components (middleware, database, reporting tools, etc.) in that architecture.
Business Knowledge:
· Familiar with US and International Equity markets.
· Able to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Education:
· Dual B.S./B.A. degrees in Computer Science, or a Master’s degree in Computer Science. MBA or MSc (Finance) a plus.
