The Opportunity
It’s an exciting time at Antler; we’ve reimagined our 112-year-old brand and are growing globally, making our ambitions a reality as we continue to build momentum.
From 2025 we become a ‘House of Brands’, with product design and development being driven from our design studio in London, working with category specialists in Sydney and Hong Kong.
Antler is seeking a Junior Product Developer to join its Development team in Sydney. The successful candidate will bring a curious mindset and attention to detail to build great new products, supporting in R&D innovation, product development and helping us source smart supply chains.
We’re looking for someone who feels equally comfortable getting hands-on with product samples, new materials and prototypes as they are diving into spreadsheets, supplier data and cost models.
Day to Day Responsibilities
We’re fast-paced and opportunistic, meaning we’re agile and comfortable in an entrepreneurial setting, where no two days are ever the same. These are the things that will be core to your role and will keep you busy:
1. Product Research and Development. Problem solve andrefine design details, select appropriate materials and optimise construction methods to ensure each product meets cost, quality, and performance targets.
Conduct in-depth research on materials, components and manufacturing processes, providing technical insights, engineering analysis and durability testing to support product improvement.
2. Collaborate with Design and Cross-Functional Teams. Work closely with the design team, as well as merchandising, marketing and finance teams, to develop concepts into fully manufacturable, commercially viable, products.
Work closely with our Design team in London, as well as our Product and Sourcing team across Asia, where calls will take place outside of our standard office hours, dependant on time zones. Flexible working hours are offered at Antler to accommodate this.
3. Project Management. Follow the product development calendar and critical path to ensure all milestones, budgets and deliverables are met. Keep project documentation accurate and organized and proactively identify any risks, delays, or bottlenecks.
4. Global Sourcing. Support in sourcing and auditing new suppliers, assisting with quotations, cost comparisons and supplier capability checks.
5. Costing & Commercial Analysis. Helping to build cost models for materials, labour, tooling and logistics, as well as analysing cost drivers to understand their impact on product design and manufacturing.
6. Research, Innovation and Trend Awareness. Stay ahead of industry trends, materials, and technologies to inform new product ideas and innovation opportunities; collaborate with design and sourcing teams to apply these insights to future collections.
