As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will spearhead the design, development, and scaling of high-performance backend systems that power mission-critical applications. This role requires deep technical ownership, architectural judgment, and the ability to build reliable, efficient, and secure services that serve a large user base. You will work closely with product, frontend, DevOps, and data teams to build robust APIs, implement clean architectures, and create systems capable of handling complex workflows and high throughput. This is a full-time opportunity based in Bangalore, offering a competitive salary package of ₹55–75 LPA for candidates with at least 7 years of hands-on experience in backend engineering.

You will play a key role in architectural decision-making, mentoring developers, implementing engineering best practices, and shaping scalable, secure backend solutions using Node.js and TypeScript. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend services using Node.js and TypeScript with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Own the architecture of core services, ensuring clean, modular, extensible, and well-documented codebases.
• Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs for internal and external consumption.
• Oversee the integration of databases, caching systems, and distributed systems to ensure high performance and low latency.
• Implement best-in-class security practices, API authentication, authorization, encryption, and data protection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—product managers, frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and QA teams—to deliver seamless features end to end.
• Lead the code review process, guide engineering design discussions, and enforce coding and architectural standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and improve system resilience and fault tolerance.
• Drive CI/CD best practices, automated testing, and continuous quality improvements across backend systems.
• Mentor developers, provide technical guidance, and support the professional growth of the backend team.
• Monitor service performance, scalability bottlenecks, and drive improvements through software optimizations and architectural enhancements.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and engineering approaches to improve backend efficiency.
• Contribute to long-term technical roadmaps, build reusable libraries, and establish engineering patterns that streamline development.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 7+ years of strong backend engineering experience with deep proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience architecting large-scale, distributed, and high-performance backend systems.
• Strong understanding of API design principles, microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and asynchronous patterns.
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, caching layers, message queues, and scalable cloud-native architectures.
