Lead Backend Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Golang and Python to design, build, and scale distributed systems. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, owning backend architecture while guiding teams from concept through production. The ideal candidate brings strong systems thinking, API design expertise, and the ability to mentor engineers in building reliable, high-performance platforms.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems and microservices.
• Architect and implement high-performance REST and gRPC APIs optimized for throughput and reliability.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and event-driven workflows using modern orchestration frameworks.
• Own system design decisions across distributed systems, storage, and service communication.
• Collaborate closely with frontend teams to ensure seamless integration with React-based applications.
• Guide cloud infrastructure design, containerization, and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices through code reviews, design reviews, and mentoring.
• Drive technical roadmaps and support teams from ideation to production readiness.

Key Skills & Experience

Programming & Frameworks

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang and Python.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript, with experience integrating React-based frontends.

Architecture & Systems Design

• Proven experience building distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., Temporal or similar systems).

Databases & Storage

• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, and Elasticsearch.

API & Integration

• Expertise in designing and optimizing RESTful and gRPC APIs for scalability and performance.

Cloud & DevOps

• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, and infrastructure automation with Terraform and Helm.
• Observability using Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.

Leadership

• Experience mentoring engineers, leading code and architecture reviews, and providing technical guidance.
• Ability to balance hands-on development with strategic technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Temporal.io or similar workflow orchestration platforms.
• Demonstrated success designing and operating high-throughput, distributed production systems.
