Marine Electrical Project Engineer
Asso.subsea is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for skilled and experienced Marine Electrical Project Engineers to join our Engineering Team in our Marine Technology Business Unit, focusing on ship design and shipbuilding. The candidates will be required to have a strong understanding of engineering principles, enjoy working with creativity, and have excellent attention to detail.
They will play a key role in ensuring the electrical and automation systems meet industry standards, class rules, and client specifications throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases of specialized offshore and subsea construction vessels. Previous experience as an Electrical Technical Officer onboard vessels is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
- Oversee electrical (LV/HV) and automation system design, installation, and testing for newbuild offshore vessels.
- Review and approve technical drawings, schematics, and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s, and other maritime regulations.
- Supervise HV/LV system integration, switchboards, and power management systems.
- Collaborate with shipyards, classification societies, and suppliers during plan approval and inspections.
- Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues during construction, sea trials, and commissioning.
- Support procurement by providing technical evaluations of electrical equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards (SOLAS, IEC, etc.) and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics/ Automation Engineering, or related field;
- 5+ years in marine electrical systems, preferably in shipbuilding for offshore vessels (AHTS, PSV, Construction Vessels, etc.).
- High Voltage (HV) certification and hands-on experience (preferred).
- Familiarity with Siemens PLC (TIA Portal), power distribution, and automation controls.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, IEC, class society rules).
- Excellent English communication (written and verbal).
- Willingness to travel to shipyards and project sites as needed
