RAMC Emergency Department is looking for a Nurse Intern to join their team!
(2) 12 hour shifts a week
Every Third weekend/Holiday
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position running from May through October and is not eligible for benefits.
Position Summary:
The Nurse Intern (NI) is a nursing student who is currently enrolled in a nursing program leading to a Registered Nurse, or who has failed the licensure exam and is awaiting a re-take of the exam and will then be identified as a Nurse Technician.
The Nurse Intern always functions under the DIRECT and PRESENT supervision of the RN.
Under s. N6.03 (3), Wisconsin Administrative Code, the supervising RN may delegate acts within the scope of professional nursing to the nurse intern, provided the RN does the following:
- Delegates tasks commensurate with educational preparation and demonstrated abilities of the nurse intern
- Provides direction and assistance to the nurse intern;
- Observes and monitors the activities of the nurse intern; and, Evaluates the effectiveness of acts performed by the nurse intern
Education and Training Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Active certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) preferred.
Completion of basic clinical skills as required by their current nursing program.
Graduate nurses who receive notification of failure of State Boards shall practice under the position description (NT).
BLS Certification required.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand, walk, and sit.
Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment while using gait belts and transfer devices.
Occasionally push and pull up to 25 pounds for transporting patients and moving equipment.
Occasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment or supplies.
Occasionally handle objects, smell, feel control knobs, switches and levers.
Frequently carry objects weighing 10 pounds or less
