Rendeavour is an urban land developer with a total land bank in excess of 12,000 ha across Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, and the DRC. Rendeavour is developing city-scale mixed-use sites.
Appolonia City, a partnership between Rendeavour, Africa’s leading urban land developer, and local communities, is a fully master- planned, mixed-use, and mixed-income urban development in the Greater Accra Metropolitan. The company is looking to strengthen its infrastructure rollout function with the hiring of a Power Engineer.
Requirements
Under the general direction of the Head of Utilities, this position administers all the electrical distribution network rollouts, technical compliance, policy formulation, designs and implementation.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervise installation of low, medium and high voltage networks and equipment.
• Design electrical infrastructure systems including power substations, transmission and distribution lines, and renewable energy plants among others.
• Preparing engineering drawings and cost estimates to meet clients’ electrical requirements, demands and usage.
• Prepare and issue work permits to contractors.
• Supervise expenditures and the preparation of procurement requests and tender documents as needed.
• Provide technical assessment of tender submissions, prepare and/or review control and protection design drawings and specifications.
• Prepare basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs for networks and plant protection systems, network automation and substation control systems, telecommunication networks and metering.
• Analyse financial, technical and billing data and identify issues and opportunities; support and reinforce front-office efforts for credit collections.
• Operating and maintaining industrial high voltage systems.
• Design schematic and wiring diagrams for SCADA operation, control, and status monitoring to interconnect with both new and existing equipment.
• Design protective relay and metering schemes, equipment specification, and smart grid applications
• Provide SCADA engineering expertise on power systems during each project's design, development, implementation, and commissioning phases.
• Define protection and control and ancillary apparatus requirements for input to System Construction Authorisation (SCA), Project Technical Specifications and documentation and advise on construction and outage programmes where required in relation to control and protection.
• Ensure networks and plant protection systems, network automation and substation control systems and telecommunication networks are in accordance with current legislation, policies and operational requirements
• Work with the construction and development team on matters concerning the design, construction and operation of control and protection systems and lead the technical resolution of site/ construction control and protection issues.
Hard skills and experience:
· Minimum of 10 years' experience in designs, construction/implementation, testing and commissioning of utility infrastructure and in technology deployment environment, including but not limited to electricity generation, transmission and distribution.
· Experience in design, construction, operation and maintenance of low, medium and high voltage systems.
· Experience in protection Relay coordination, programming and power system studies.
· Experience in electrical plant deployment, operation and maintenance.
· Experience in substation testing, commissioning and maintenance including primary and secondary injections tests.
· Experience in preparation of tender documents and tender evaluations.
· Enhanced skills in identifying faulty areas and proposing remedial measures
· Authorised to operate medium and high voltage equipment.
· Bachelor’s degree from a recognised and reputable engineering institution.
· Proficiency in Auto-CAD and other engineering programs.
· Registration as a professional/graduate Engineer with Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE)
