The Program Finance Specialist is responsible for providing financial management, analysis and governance support across a portfolio of complex programs. The role ensures financial integrity, transparency and control by delivering accurate reporting, forecasting and insights that support strategic decision-making and effective program delivery.
This is a 12 month contract role.
Requirements
What you'll do:
- Develop and manage program budgets, forecasts and financial plans across multiple projects within a broader program or portfolio.
- Monitor expenditure, commitments and accruals to ensure alignment with approved funding, delivery milestones and program scope.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis, cash flow forecasting and funding utilisation insights.
- Identify financial risks, pressures and emerging issues, and provide recommendations to support mitigation and re-forecasting activities.
- Support the development of business cases, cost models and financial analysis to inform investment decisions and program prioritisation.
- Ensure compliance with financial management frameworks, procurement policies and funding agreements.
- Collaborate with program leadership, project teams and finance stakeholders to maintain strong financial governance and oversight.
- Contribute to audit activities and support continuous improvement of financial reporting, processes and governance practices.
- Develop and enhance financial tracking tools, dashboards and reporting frameworks to improve program visibility and decision-making.
What you'll bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline (CA/CPA or working towards is desirable).
- Demonstrated experience providing financial management and advisory support within large programs or complex organisational environments.
- Strong experience in budget management, forecasting, financial modelling and variance analysis across multi-project programs.
- Proven ability to develop financial reporting frameworks, dashboards and tracking tools to support governance and executive oversight.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into clear reporting for non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience working within regulated or government environments and understanding of financial compliance requirements is desirable.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate across finance, program and operational teams.
- High level of attention to detail, accountability and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
