Are you detail-obsessed, comfortable with spreadsheets, and excited by the idea of watching a building transform from the inside out? This could be the opportunity you've been looking for.
A24 Group is a dynamic, multi-sector business with interests in luxury hospitality, wine estates, and property development. We are currently undertaking a major and exciting project — converting a large commercial office block in Bellville into premium student accommodation. We own the building and will operate as the landlord, meaning this project spans everything from construction oversight to interior fit-out, procurement, and ultimately commercialising the units to universities and student bodies.
We need a sharp, motivated Project & Development Assistant to join us and support the day-to-day delivery of this project from start to finish.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the project lead in managing all aspects of the office-to-student accommodation conversion
- Tracking budgets, costs, and contractor quotes using Excel and project management tools
- Assisting with the procurement and purchasing of materials, fixtures, fittings, and custom-made furniture
- Liaising with contractors, architects, suppliers, and consultants on behalf of the team
- Maintaining detailed project schedules, trackers, and progress reports
- Supporting the commercial side — helping to prepare presentations and proposals to universities and student accommodation bodies
- Conducting regular site visits to monitor building progress and quality
- Travelling to suppliers, sites, and meetings across the Cape Town area as required
What We're Looking For
- A degree, diploma, or qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related built environment discipline — or solid hands-on experience in a similar role
- A valid South African driver's licence is essential — you will be required to travel between sites and to suppliers regularly
- Strong Excel skills and a genuine love of spreadsheets, data, and organisation
- Outstanding attention to detail — you're the person who spots the mistake others miss
- A good understanding of (or keen interest in) construction processes, contractor management, and building procurement
- A proactive, self-starting attitude — someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English (Afrikaans an advantage)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment across multiple workstreams
Nice to Have
- Experience with student accommodation, residential development, or commercial-to-residential conversion projects
- Knowledge of South African building regulations, NHBRC requirements, or local planning processes
- Familiarity with project management software (MS Project, Asana, Monday.com or similar)
- Existing relationships with Cape Town-based contractors or suppliers
What We Offer
- A front-row seat on a high-profile, large-scale conversion project from start to finish
- A varied, hands-on role with real responsibility from day one
- A collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Opportunities for growth within a diverse and expanding group
