Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
The Project Engineer is a pivotal technical partner responsible for driving complex capital projects from concept through closeout. Unlike traditional PM roles, this position requires deep technical engagement; you will use your proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam to validate designs and author detailed Project Execution Plans that map out exactly how construction will occur within our high-paced manufacturing environment. You will act as the bridge between engineering theory and operational reality, ensuring projects are delivered safely and with zero disruption to active production lines.
Beyond technical execution, you will own the project's business health, managing the delicate balance of scope, schedule, and budget with rigor. You will work with cross-functional teams of engineers and contractors, serving as the primary problem-solver who anticipates risks before they impact the timeline. This role is designed for a high-bandwidth professional who thrives on accountability and can seamlessly translate complex engineering constraints into clear, actionable strategies for stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
Develop Strategic Execution Plans: Create comprehensive Project Execution Plans (PEPs) that define the exact construction sequence, logistics, and phasing required to build complex projects in a high-paced manufacturing environment without disrupting operations.
Lead Technical Delivery: Direct cross-disciplinary teams (MEP, Civil, Controls) through the full lifecycle, utilizing your proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam to validate designs, markup drawings, and ensure constructability before work begins.
Master Schedule & Budget: Build and maintain integrated project schedules and cost models, tracking scope, variance, and milestones to ensure the project remains financially healthy and on time.
Drive Stakeholder Alignment: Serve as the primary bridge between technical engineering requirements and business operations, coordinating seamlessly with clients, general contractors, and internal leadership.
Mitigate Risk & Ensure Safety: Proactively identify project bottlenecks and execute mitigation strategies while strictly enforcing safety standards, regulatory codes, and quality control procedures.
What You'll Bring
Engineering & Software Proficiency: You hold a B.S. in Engineering and utilize AutoCAD and Bluebeam to verify spatial constraints, review shop drawings, and troubleshoot design clashes in the field.
Operational Execution: You are experienced in managing concurrent projects within an active manufacturing environment. You coordinate project execution timing and resource allocation to minimize impact to production.
Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: You effectively manage technical information flow, translating engineering data into clear decision points for clients, general contractors, and internal leadership to maintain alignment.
Constructability & Logistics: You apply construction knowledge to create concise execution plans, defining installation sequences and project logistics that allows key stakeholders to operate without surprises
Performance Management: You drive project delivery through active monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring strict adherence to cost forecasts, schedule milestones, and safety protocols.
About this Team
This team acts as the tactical bridge between engineering design and physical reality, charged with the complex challenge of integrating major infrastructure upgrades into a live manufacturing environment. We exist to remove physical bottlenecks, delivering the high-performance facilities that directly accelerate Base’s production capacity and ability to scale. Unlike standard greenfield construction, our work demands intricate "ship-in-a-bottle" logistics where technical planning determines the difference between seamless integration and costly downtime. This is an environment where rigorous execution strategy directly creates the tangible foundation for the company's future growth.
First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
