ispace is looking for RF Communications Engineer to join our Avionics Team.
In this role, you will own and design the RF communications subsystem architecture and analysis efforts for ispace’s lunar lander current and future development projects, as part of the Avionics team. You will ideally have a broad knowledge base in RF analysis, design and integration including redundant and reliable communication paths, and a creative mindset. Your tasks will cover all phases of the projects, from helping the team define system architecture, to trade studies and component selection and procurement, supporting hardware/software integration and spacecraft-level tests.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in requirements specification phasesDefine RF subsystem architecture for future missions, equipment selection including trade studies for on-board as well as ground support equipment, with other design and analysis team membersPerform RF subsystem analysis, including RF link budget analysis for space to ground, ground to space, and space to space linksBe the technical point of contact for Japanese RF units vendorsEnsure compliance with Japanese radiofrequency regulatory processesDefine and perform verification of complete subsystem performance to show compliance with upper-level requirementsSupport mission analysis and operations activitiesSupport integration, troubleshooting and testing
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (microwave/RF/electromagnetic related studies), or equivalentTwo or more years’ experience in RF path design for high-reliability applications, including equipment selection, RF link budget analysisComfortable with electronics and RF testing equipmentExperience in procurement and integration of RF communications components
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience)
Master’s degree in Aerospace/RF Engineering or a related fieldFive or more years’ spacecraft RF design experienceSmall spacecraft and/or lander development, launch vehicle integration and test supportKnowledge of space communication standards, in particular CCSDSExperience with supporting operations activities including rangingExperience with electrical ground support equipmentExperience with ground stations and command and control networksProficient written and spoken Japanese
