Scrum Master – Agile Transformation Initiative
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite – 5 Days per Week)
Contract: Through December 2026 (Potential Extension into 2027)
Lead Agile Excellence on a Cloud Modernization Program
We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to guide and elevate a high-performing Agile team responsible for delivering a modern examiner workflow platform. This initiative replaces a legacy system with a scalable, AWS-powered solution designed for long-term efficiency and innovation.
This role goes beyond facilitating ceremonies — you will serve as a true servant leader, Agile coach, and transformation champion, helping teams embrace continuous improvement and deliver measurable value.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as Scrum Master for the CRAFT team, ensuring effective Agile execution
- Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement
- Remove impediments that block team progress and proactively address risks
- Coach the team in Agile best practices, fostering self-organization and accountability
- Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure backlog clarity, prioritization, and alignment
- Promote backlog hygiene and ensure well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria
- Support continuous delivery practices and quality-focused development
- Help drive Agile adoption across the broader program and leadership teams
Project Overview
The examiner workflow tool will modernize and enhance a legacy platform using AWS cloud services. This role is critical to ensuring Agile principles are embedded throughout development, implementation, and ongoing product evolution.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years leading projects or major business initiatives
- At least 2 years of IT portfolio or customer relationship management experience
- Hands-on experience serving as a Scrum Master during an Agile transformation
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe
- Experience applying Agile techniques such as user stories, continuous integration, automated testing, and iterative development practices
- Ability to engage, coach, and inspire cross-functional teams
Certifications (One or More Required)
- PMP
- PMI-ACP
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
- SAFe Agilist (or equivalent Agile certification)
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role located in downtown Washington, DC. Candidates must be available to work onsite five days per week.
