With our recent acquisition by PRI Engineering, we are expanding our reach and looking for a Senior Accountant to help anchor our financial operations in the Okanagan.
The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and project-based analysis. You will be a key partner to our project managers and leadership team, ensuring that our "Ecora Way" of efficiency and quality is reflected in our financial health.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervision: Directly manage and mentor the Billing Coordinators, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professional growth.
- Workflow Optimization: Streamline the "Inspiration to Invoice" process, identifying bottlenecks in billing cycles and implementing solutions.
- Internal Audit: Conduct regular reviews of payroll entries and client invoices to ensure compliance with internal controls and provincial regulations.
Financial & Project Accounting
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Project Oversight: Monitor project budgets, WIP (Work in Progress), and profitability; provide insights to Discipline Leads to optimize performance.
- General Ledger: Perform account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, and lead month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Tax & Audit: Prepare federal and provincial tax returns; coordinate with external auditors for year-end reviews and payroll audits.
Compliance & Payroll Strategy
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: CPA designation (active and in good standing) is highly preferred. PCP or CPM (Payroll) certification is a significant asset.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in consulting, engineering, or project-based industries is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek, BST, or similar).
