Overview of the Role
Bookkeepers are responsible for overseeing a company's financial data and ensuring compliance by maintaining accurate records of accounts payable, receivable, daily financial entries, and reconciliations. They handle daily accounting tasks, including monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and recording payments and adjustments. This role will focus on managing accounts, payables (AUS), client invoicing, recording payments and adjustments, and submitting financial reports as required by the and Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
Main duties include:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately.
- Performing recordkeeping and preparing financial reports.
- Preparing reports for the managers and assisting the accountants.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable.
- Perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations and credit card accounts
- Handle BIR reports and ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Handle GST reports and other reports as requested by the Headoffice.
- Performs month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper record-keeping.
- Update financial statements regularly.
- Collate and ensure VBP official receipts are correct according to spending
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and assist with their inquiries.
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, including invoicing.
- Ensure timely and accurate client billing/invoicing
- Comparing system reports to balances and verifying entries.
- Monitoring payroll expense claims, including salary advances.
- Bank reconciliation
- Works on other tasks in relation to finance as may be delegated
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data;
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience with client billing or other professional service firm and accounting software (i.e., Xero) as well as Microsoft Office Products;
