We are seeking a highly motivated Vivarium Operation Research Associate (Contract) to support the evaluation of programmable cell therapies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for hands-on execution of oncology animal models, strictly adhering to IACUC guidelines for animal welfare. Key responsibilities include animal handling, compound administration (various routes), tumor burden quantification (volumetric and bioluminescence imaging), and sample collection/processing. The associate will also be expected to maintain meticulous experimental records, and support general vivarium and laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and cross-functional task coordination. Candidates with experience in cell culture and flow cytometry are preferred.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Conduct oncology animal models for evaluating programmable cell therapy‬‬‬‬

Adhere to IACUC guidelines to ensure ethical treatment and welfare of laboratory animals

Support the Vivarium Operations and In Vivo Translation teams by conducting animal model studies in oncology‬ to evaluate the activity of programmable cell therapy

Maintain and expand cancer and therapeutic cell lines‬

Execute hands-on responsibilities including, but not limited to animal handling and restraint, administration via‬ various routes, in-life measurements, clinical observations, sample collection and processing, and accurate data‬ collection

Introduce and quantify tumor burden by volumetric measurement and bioluminescent imaging

Harvest and analyze in vivo samples by flow cytometry and other in vitro assays

‬Document, organize, maintain, review, and report experimental records for research and regulatory requirements

Support vivarium and laboratory operations‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Manage, maintain, and purchase laboratory equipment and consumables

Communicate and coordinate daily tasks cross functionally with internal and external partners

WHO YOU ARE

High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years direct and relevant hands-on practical experience, Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in oncology, immunology, biotechnology, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry or academic experience

Cell culture experience with mammalian cell lines with additional weight given for CAR-T cells‬

Animal health experience in identifying clinical observations and providing treatments‬‬‬‬

Extensive experience in establishing mouse tumor models in immune competent and compromised animals‬‬‬‬

Proficiency in drug administration (SQ, IP, IV, and PO)‬‬‬‬

Proficiency in various blood collection routes (Sub-M and others)

Proficiency in rodent full body necropsy‬‬‬‬

Software experience in Excel, Google suite, Prism, PowerPoint, electronic lab notebooks, and in vivo data‬ management platforms‬‬‬‬

Ability to follow instructions and work independently‬‬‬‬

Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks to ensure all assignments are completed on or before‬ deadlines‬‬‬‬

Preferred experience with liquid handling equipment, flow cytometry, automation, and In Vivo Imaging System‬‬‬‬

Must have excellent troubleshooting, organization, and planning skills, and the ability to work under timeline in a‬ fast paced environment‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Excellent written and oral communication skills‬‬‬‬

Communicate transparently to all stakeholders with relevant information in a timely manner‬‬‬‬

The estimated base salary for the preferred primary location of the San Francisco Bay area ranges from $46/hour – $57/hour. Salary ranges for other locations may vary. Base pay offered may vary based on job-related knowledge, experience, education, and location.
