Sunlighten is on the lookout for a Senior Software Engineer to help us build digital tools that support healthier lives. We are looking for someone with expertise in connected devices, mobile app integration, and system architecture to help take our digital ecosystem to the next level. In this role, you will partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to evaluate the technical feasibility of new features, contribute to architecture decisions, and help translate product ideas into scalable technical solutions. You will also collaborate with product managers, hardware engineers, and our global engineering team to design and build a reliable, seamless, and scalable connected experience for our customers. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership in the development and evolution of Sunlighten’s connected device ecosystem.
- Design and build software solutions that enable reliable communication between connected devices, mobile applications, and cloud services.
- Evaluate the technical feasibility and architectural impact of new product features, translating product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to application and cloud development, including APIs, backend services, and AWS infrastructure supporting connected products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, electrical, mobile, and product teams to define solutions and deliver new capabilities and improvements.
- Partner with Program Manager and product leadership to support planning, prioritization, and delivery of engineering initiatives.
- Partner closely with Product leadership during early concept and roadmap planning to evaluate technical feasibility, architectural impact, and implementation approaches.
- Serve as the primary technical partner for Product leadership in the U.S., helping translate product vision into scalable technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices through code reviews, troubleshooting, and knowledge sharing.
- Assess third-party technologies and build-vs-buy options to support system performance and scalability.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability, development efficiency, and testing practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in IoT, connectivity, and cloud platforms.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within connected products, IoT platforms, or embedded systems
- Strong experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks
- Strong experience with Android Native development
- Experience building cloud-based services and infrastructure using AWS
- Experience developing and supporting APIs, backend services, and device-to-cloud integrations
- Solid understanding of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and networking protocols used in connected devices
- Experience contributing to software architecture for connected products and IoT ecosystems
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and globally distributed engineering teams
