The Mission & The Work
In this role, you will join the Media Essentials team (codename Ether). Your mission will be to build world-class rich media solutions that power deep interactions for Glia’s customers. You will be a force multiplier whose work directly impacts the successful execution of our very ambitious Voice+AI roadmap.
Our Collaboration Model
We are a remote-first team distributed across Portugal, Spain and Estonia, working across EET timezone. While we embrace remote collaboration, we have offices in Tallinn and Tartu for those who prefer them. We also gather the full team in Estonia twice a year to innovate and connect in person.
What We’re Looking for
We are looking for a high-ownership Senior Software Engineer who thrives on technical variety. While our core needs might involve Go, Elixir, possibly C++ or Ruby, we strongly value architectural thinking over language loyalty. You should be prepared to work across different stacks, selecting and mastering the best tool for the challenge at hand.
Experience: 5+ years of professional development with a proven track record of leading complex projects and owning system outcomes.
System Design: Demonstrable expertise in building and maintaining scalable, highly available, and reliable distributed systems.
Technical Foundation: Strong mastery of strictly-typed/compiled languages, design patterns, and containerized cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Engineering Excellence: Committed to TDD, CI/CD best practices, and the deliberate use of AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code) while maintaining full accountability for code quality.
Special skills and experience that can make you especially strong team member
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in real-time communication and low-latency systems. Professional experience in the following is a significant advantage:
Real-Time Media: Development of streaming applications (e.g., WebRTC).
Telephony/VoIP: Practical experience with SIP/VoIP protocols, FreeSWITCH, or Kamailio.
Architecture: Familiarity with event-driven architecture.
