The Senior Staff Accountant will excel at maintaining the general ledger and books and records of an organizations accounting system, ensuring the accuracy of all our organizational systems for gathering data and the quality of our reports and data. They will exhibit strong interpersonal skills, have a high regard for the attention to detail. Highly involved in month end close including monthly journal entries and account reconciliations. Knowledge of payroll and payroll taxes and compliance as well as experience running financial statements and ad hoc financial reporting. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible in implementing new financial reports, stats tracking and to make suggestions to continue to lead EBC as Best in Class in our Accounting and Finance Department.
Compensation: $75,000-95,0000 annually
This is a fully on-site position, Monday-Friday
- Lead key aspects of the monthly and annual close cycles with a high degree of independence.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial results. Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet and income statements. Distribute as required to management personnel.
- Participate in monthly trial balance reviews to confirm completeness and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Review internal controls on an ongoing basis and recommend necessary changes.
- Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliation, analysis and supporting work papers.
- Prepare ad hoc reports from accounting software.
- Assist Food and Beverage with accounting procedures and review of departmental financial information.
- Oversee bi-weekly confidential payroll processing and review bi-weekly payroll output. Familiar with related payroll tax filings.
- Prepare monthly sales tax returns, check requests and transmit required EFT payments.
- Assist department managers with accounting-related questions and data requests.
- Coordinate annual year-end audit and work paper preparation.
- Participate in Annual Company Budget Process, aid department heads in completing their departmental budgets.
- Serve as subject matter expert for accounting processes and support cross functional teams on accounting impacts of operational decisions.
- Complete special projects as required or assigned by Accounting Manager or CFO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting department
- Solid knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and payroll processing procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to interact with all levels within the organization to achieve objectives
- Proficiency with computerized spreadsheet software
- Ability to prepare and analyze accounting reports
- Ability to supervise accounting staff
- Extremely organized with attention to detail
- Exhibits quality and accuracy in their work
- Experience working with Paycom, Sage Accounting Software and Mineral Tree Accounts Payable Approval System
