Taken en verantwoordelijkheden
Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de systeemspecificatie van BESS en ontwikkelt deze continu verder.
Je stelt de systeemniveau-test specificatie voor BESS op en verfijnt deze, zodat deze blijft voldoen aan veranderende technische en operationele eisen.
Je integreert BESS-stroomunits naadloos in de hybride energiecentralebesturing en dekt het volledige spectrum van systeemfunctionaliteiten af.
Je leidt het kwalificatieproces met behulp van Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) en Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) methoden — van concept- en productontwikkeling door alle PDP-fasen heen tot serieoptimalisatie.
Je stuurt externe BESS-leveranciers aan met technische autoriteit en zorgt voor afstemming met systeemvereisten en projectdoelstellingen.
Je houdt actief de nieuwste technologieën op het gebied van BESS in de gaten en beoordeelt hun potentieel voor toekomstige integratie.

Wat vragen we van jou?
Je hebt een masterdiploma of PhD in Elektrotechniek, Mechatronica of een vergelijkbare richting.
Je hebt diepgaande ervaring met industriële BESS-systemen en/of vermogenselektronica; kennis van grid-following, grid-supporting of grid-forming functionaliteiten is een pré.
Je bent goed bekend met requirements engineering, het opstellen van testspecificaties en de V-modelbenadering inclusief verificatie en validatie.
Je werkt vlot met modelgebaseerde ontwikkeltools zoals Matlab/Simulink, bij voorkeur inclusief System Composer.
Je denkt in systemen, herkent mogelijkheden voor modularisatie en gaat complexe vraagstukken gestructureerd en helder te lijf.
Je toont natuurlijk leiderschap zonder formele hiërarchie en neemt weloverwogen beslissingen, ook in dynamische omgevingen.
Je hebt aantoonbare ervaring in het aansturen van leveranciers en het bevorderen van technische samenwerking.
Je communiceert en presenteert effectief in het Engels, zowel mondeling als schriftelijk.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Expert Battery Energy Storage System (BSS).

Tasks & responsibilities
You take ownership of the system-level requirement specification for BESS and continuously develop it further.
You are responsible for building and refining the system-level test specification for BESS, ensuring it meets evolving technical and operational needs.
You integrate BESS power units seamlessly into the hybrid control power plant, covering the full scope of system functionality.
You lead the qualification process using Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) methods — from concept and product development across all PDP stages to series optimization.
You steer external BESS suppliers with technical authority and ensure alignment with system requirements and project goals.
You actively scout emerging technologies relevant to BESS and evaluate their potential for future integration.

What we ask of you
You hold a Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.
You bring in-depth experience with industrial BESS systems and/or power converters; knowledge of grid-following, grid-supporting, or grid-forming functionalities is a plus.
You are well-versed in requirements engineering, test specification development, and the V-model approach including verification and validation.
You work confidently with model-based development tools such as Matlab/Simulink, ideally including System Composer.
You think in systems, recognize modularization potential, and approach complexity with clarity and structure.
You demonstrate lateral leadership and make sound decisions, even in dynamic environments.
You have a strong track record in managing suppliers and driving technical collaboration.
You communicate and present effectively in English, both in writing and speaking.
