Your Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and maintenance of video processing & Ad insertion software that plug into the Hotstar media pipelines, designing for quality, robustness and scale
Innovate and build POCs leveraging emerging media technologies to cater to growing business needs
Design and implement algorithms that can augment encoding efficiency with video intelligence, automate video quality control of incoming source content and encoded Hotstar streams
Drive the design and implementation of media features in live streaming workflows with necessary observability and resiliency
Champion support of state-of-art media features on the platform for a delightful user experience
Participate in work related to next-generation video technologies
8+ years experience in multimedia software development, with excellent problem solving and debugging skills
BE/B.Tech in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent. MS or PhD a plus
Expert in C++ or Java and object-oriented programming
Experience in large-scale distributed systems and cloud-computing
Solid understanding of audio and video compression and processing, including video codec standards such as H.264/AVC, HEVC and AV1, HDR standards viz. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, audio codecs such as AAC, HE-AAC, EAC-3 and Dolby Atmos (AC-4), immersive formats such as 360VR and 3D video
Strong background in image and signal processing, both algorithm design and implementation (for example, image scaling, deinterlacing, frame rate conversion, artifact detection)
Working knowledge of live streaming workflows and systems, streaming protocols and network topologies involved
Experience in open-source multimedia projects (such as ffmpeg, GStreamer, NVIDIA DeepStream, x265, SVT-AV1)
Experience in Machine Learning and GenAI systems applied to Media processing
Experience in media packaging formats such as HLS, DASH, CMAF along with encryption standards
Understanding of CDN architectures and delivery mechanisms
