As a Steward, you play a key role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all guests. Whether supporting service in the lounge, running food and beverages, or keeping the theatre tidy and compliant, you are a vital part of the guest experience. Stewards must be attentive, proactive, and always ready to jump in where needed.
If you ever suspect a guest may be intoxicated or feel uncomfortable serving an individual or group, you are expected to immediately notify the Manager on Duty (MOD) or a supervisor. Adherence to all AGCO rules and regulations is essential.
The Day to Day:
Pre-show:
- Assist with set up & maintaining cleanliness of the restaurant/lounge spaces.
- Assist servers with running of food and drink orders to tables in the restaurant/lounge spaces.
- Wipe down all surface tops of the theatre’s tables and ensure programs and QR codes are set in place.
- Check washrooms to ensure all dispensers are stocked.
- Work with MOD or supervisor to determine if any special seating requests that may need to be set in the theatre.
- Assist the MOD and supervisor in seating all theatre guests, until drink and food orders are needed to be run.
During Show:
- Running any and all drink and food orders into the theatre.
- Bussing any food baskets/plates and glassware from theatre.
- Clean any spills that may occur in the theatre.
- Check washrooms before and after intermission.
- Keep an eye on audience members during the show, and be the first contact with any customers who may be talking or disruptive. If their disruptive behavior continues, stewards must alert the MOD and/or supervisor immediately.
- Change any kegs and pop/juice boxes to assist the bartenders.
End of Night:
- Bus all glassware and baskets/plates from theatre.
- Conduct a thorough wipe down of all theatre tables/surfaces that guests have come in contact with.
- Assist bartenders with any closing night procedures.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Passion for hospitality
- High attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
- Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
- Minimum 1 year experience in customer service, restaurant experience considered an asset
- Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
