Student Advisor for MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS)
Location: 100% remote within the U.S. (any U.S. time zone)

MiaPrep Online High School (MOHS) is our online high school for students grades 7-12. Formed in 2022 and accredited in 2023, we’ve grown from 80 students our first year to over 730 in 2025! We’re seeking a passionate and resourceful Student Advisor to join our team. This is a fully remote, student and family-facing role that emphasizes building positive student relationships, coaching student growth, monitoring progress, and managing records and data. As a MOHS Student Advisor, you will be integral in shaping the community for our students, parents, teachers, and staff.
A Day in the Role:
Serve as the daily point of contact for assigned students, addressing their academic concerns and supporting their growth.
Conduct advising meetings to address academic concerns, support student success, and apply social-emotional learning strategies to promote engagement, persistence, and progress.
Monitor and analyze student data between advising meetings to identify indicators of struggle or disengagement, assess patterns over time, and initiate appropriate support as needed.
Maintain clear, timely documentation of student interactions, advising decisions, and follow-up actions
Partner with Student Support Specialists, Academic Counselors, and teachers to support individual student success and continuity of care.
Contribute ideas and feedback to improve advising processes, student supports, and school systems in collaboration with advising leadership.
Engage with students in online social spaces, clubs, and events, fostering a safe and supportive online community
Participate in regular meetings with other MOHS staff and faculty members to discuss student advising and engagement strategies
Act as a liaison between students, families, and school administration to ensure clear and effective communication
Schedule
MOHS Advisors are expected to have 40 hours of availability each week on a year-round basis.
Availability during school hours, Monday through Friday between 8 am and 4 pm in a U.S. timezone (ET, CT, MT, or PT) is required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Secondary Education or related field
Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in a student-facing role at the secondary level (grades 7–12)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with families about expectations and performance and collaborate with colleagues to support student success.
Demonstrated professional judgment and ability to balance empathy with accountability in student-facing decisions.
Willingness to support administrative tasks, lead a club, or assist with coverage during busy periods
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload independently
Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
Comfort adapting to evolving systems and implementing new processes
Proficiency with online tools and ability to learn new platforms quickly
The ideal candidate brings:
Online advising or teaching experience
Experience supporting neurodiverse learners
Familiarity with homeschool communities
Experience using student data to guide interventions
Proficiency in Google Suite and/or Airtable
Compensation & Benefits
The expected starting pay range is $24.54 - $34.50 per hour. Student Advisors at MiaPrep Online High School work an average of 40 hours per week. When working year-round, this can equate to an annual pay range of $51,043 - $71,760.
Miaplaza’s compensation philosophy ensures equity and competitiveness while considering the regional differences in living and labor costs. Specific rates will be provided during the hiring process and are aligned with market data and internal equity.
Compensation is evaluated twice per year, based on performance.

PTO is all-purpose time off, and combines traditional vacation and paid sick leave plans into one flexible, inclusive policy. Eligible employees can use PTO for all kinds of absences including: vacation, holidays, illness, injury, family leave, and other personal business. Full-time employees receive 16 hours of floating holiday PTO per quarter and accumulate additional PTO at the rate of 1 hour per every 15 hours worked. Annually, this amounts to approximately 138 hours per year or 17 eight-hour days on average.
