We’re excited to share that An opportunity currently exists for an Substation Design Engineer in the Substations Project Engineering team within the Project Development Department of AltaLink in Calgary.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Substations Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for completion of designs on a wide range of projects including Capital Replacement & Upgrade (CR&U) projects and customer-driven Direct Assign projects. This role will appeal to individuals who have direct experience in the transmission utility industry. The primary focus is the experience in the areas of Substation & P&C design from the 25kV to 500kV levels, as well as an understanding of all disciplines of substations design and interactions (i.e., Protection & Control, SCADA, Telecommunications, and Lines).
Responsibilities:
Requirements
o Substation and bus layouts.
o High Voltage Power Equipment (including current transformers, instrument transformers, disconnect switches, circuit breakers and surge arresters).
o AC and DC supplies.
o General knowledge of designing of Protection and control schemes.
o General knowledge of industry standards such as CSA, IEC, IEEE, ANSI.
