Position Overview
Responsible for assisting the Civil General Superintendent on a variety of project sites to perform topographic surveys, construction and engineering layout, utility monitoring surveys and verification/as-built surveys of installed civil infrastructure. Successful candidate will work in a team setting to plan and perform survey tasks requested by various members of the Land Development Department. Ability to perform survey related calculations, cut/fill reports and prepare AutoCAD drawings will be required.
Key Responsibilities
Collect and record information using conventional instruments, robotic total station, digital levels, and GPS equipment
Interpret field data in order to create accurate survey drawings and legal plans. This will include downloading and editing field data, interpreting field notes and sketches, and processing conventional and GPS data
Explore the landscape and record/document geographical information
Confirm elevations, volumes and locations of various onsite services
Mark land boundaries with geographical tools and measuring devices
Layout of fill areas, preload corners, building locations
Liaising with project managers, contractors, and members of the public
Clear brush and debris from line of survey
Working safely and within defined safety protocol
Complete survey calculations. Create cut/fill/balance options for sites and prepare drawings, maps, plans, records, and documents as needed
Maintain an organized library of site records, measurements, and other survey information
Other duties as required
Desired Skills and Experience
BC Land Surveyor or Land Surveyor in Training is an asset.
Education and/or experience in geomatics or field surveying.
Proficient using conventional survey instruments, robotic total station, digital levels, and GPS equipment.
Proficiency in computer applications (Civil3D, AutoCAD, Kubla, Microsoft Office).
Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Professional demeanor, and excellent work ethic.
Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
A valid B.C. driver’s license and car is required.
