Greencross Vets Smithfield is seeking a Veterinary Director to guide our talented team and champion exceptional standards of medicine and client care. You will set the clinical tone, mentor vets and nurses, and partner with the Practice Manager to deliver great outcomes for pets, people and the business.

About Greencross Vets Smithfield
Our Smithfield clinic is fully equipped with modern diagnostics and facilities. We see a varied caseload with strengths in Feline Medicine, Exotics and Wildlife, creating a dynamic environment for a leader who enjoys coaching others across diverse cases. The clinic sits in the vibrant Smithfield precinct with great lunch options, undercover parking and easy access to the outdoors. It is 10 minutes to Cairns and 5 minutes to the beach, so work-life balance is very achievable! As part of Greencross, you are connected to a national network of 160+ clinics and 24 emergency and specialist hospitals supported by 3000+ veterinary professionals.

What you will lead

• Clinical standards, case management quality and a culture of  high standard care

• Coaching, mentoring and development for vets and nurses, including feedback and support plans

• Roster planning, workflow and teamwork to ensure smooth daily operations

• Client experience, communication standards and community reputation

• Partnership with the Practice Manager on budgets, inventory, risk and compliance

• Local initiatives in feline, exotics and wildlife aligned to team interests and skills

• Participation in recruitment and onboarding for new team members and graduates

• Availability to support Fridays and Saturdays as needed, ensuring continuity for our clients

About you

• BVSc or DVM recognised by the AVBC and eligibility for QLD registration

• Experienced GP veterinarian with leadership experience or clear readiness to step into a director role

• Strong communicator who builds trust with teams and clients

• High attention to detail, sound clinical judgement and practical decision-making

• Interest in mentoring and lifting team capability across medicine, surgery and client care

• Strengths or enthusiasm in feline, exotics or wildlife will be well regarded
