The Virtual Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing and developing Virtual Construction Field Engineers, ensuring that Virtual Construction (VC) processes are consistently implemented at the project level. This role combines team leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight to drive successful project outcomes. The VC Superintendent will support field teams, troubleshoot project-level issues, enforce enterprise standards, and ensure the quality of Nox Innovations deliverables. By visiting and managing multiple job sites weekly, the VC Superintendent provides hands-on leadership and ensures that manpower and staffing needs are aligned with company and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with VC Field Engineers.
- Oversee the professional development and training of VC Field Engineers.
- Conduct daily check-ins with VC Field Engineers to provide support and direction.
- Lead the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for VC Field Engineers.
Process & Standards Enforcement
- Ensure Virtual Construction-to-Field processes are being followed at the project level.
- Develop and implement new processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Virtual Construction team.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise standards for: Markups, Model Sign-Offs, As-Builts, Kit Tracker, and Asset Tracker.
Field & Project Support
- Visit and manage multiple job sites weekly to support VC implementation.
- Troubleshoot VC-to-Field issues at the project level.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field leaders to ensure smooth integration of VDC processes.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve challenges quickly and effectively.
Manpower & Resource Planning
- Accountable for manpower projections and project staffing needs.
- Strategically allocate VC Field Engineers across projects to maintain optimal support levels.
Nox Innovations Deliverables
- Ensure accountability and quality control for Nox deliverables, including Layout points, Sheet sets, Modeling.
- Work closely with VC Field Engineers, design team, and project teams to address and resolve deliverable-related issues.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) or related construction management fields.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing and developing technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of VDC processes, digital-to-field integration, and construction workflows.
- Proficiency with BIM and related technologies (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Procore).
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple job sites simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with field teams, engineers, and clients.
