Freedom Power is looking for a talented and experienced VP Legal to oversee the company’s legal affairs and various initiatives across the company’s business units. This role is broad in scope and will expose you to all parts of the business. You will be encouraged to build your profile internally by working collaboratively across departments and regions, reducing the company’s risk profile, and driving revenue growth.
Serve as a trusted advisor on all legal matters for internal stakeholders.
Manage the departmental budget.
Provide forward-looking, pragmatic legal guidance to our Executive, Sales, Marketing, and Commercial teams to ensure their activities, business practices, and transactions comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Assist with corporate secretarial tasks, including entity management, and drafting, updating, and maintaining the company’s policies and procedures.
Drive revenue by leading the drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements in support of the company’s business, such as installation agreements and terms and conditions for our solar, HVAC, and generator sales, construction agreements for our Commercial & Industrial team, material procurement contracts for our Supply Chain team, and various other marketing, consulting, and service agreements.
Manage escalated customer disputes and litigation matters; advise with respect to customer cancellations, liens, collections, and related matters.
Oversee the company’s vendor onboarding process, including leading the negotiation of vendor agreements and managing the company’s relationship with its third-party vendor onboarding partner.
Efficiently partner with outside legal counsel to promote Freedom Solar Power’s growth and interests.
Support the Executive team and the company’s key strategic projects, high-profile issues, and mission, while demonstrating its core values.
Develop and ensure adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies, maintaining the company’s legal and ethical standards.
3+ years as a licensed attorney (in-house experience preferred, but not required).
JD from an accredited law school and active membership in the Texas State Bar (or ability to obtain admission within 60 days from start date).
Strong experience in commercial transactional matters, ideally in construction, energy, or project finance; some litigation experience is desirable.
Experience in, or at least a willingness to learn about, the renewable energy industry.
Capacity to work autonomously, handle multiple priorities, and excel in a dynamic environment.
Strategic thinker with strong business acumen who can clearly articulate recommendations to drive informed decision-making.
Ability to work from our office in Austin, TX. This is an in-office position.
