As the Accounting Lead, you will report to the Accounting Senior Manager and will be responsible for the end-to-end accounting operations of the Chilean entity, ensuring compliance with local statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements while aligning with Company-wide accounting policies and timelines. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader, fluent in English, with strong knowledge of Chilean GAAP, tax regulations, and statutory reporting, and experience operating within a multinational environment.
What you’ll do:
Accounting & Month-End Close
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the Chile entity in accordance with corporate close timelines.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions in compliance with local accounting standards and company policies.
- Partner with the Corporate accounting team to ensure proper consolidation and reporting.
Statutory Accounting & Compliance
- Maintain statutory accounting records in accordance with current Chilean laws and regulations.
- Ensure proper issuance and maintenance of statutory accounting books and required supporting documentation.
- Prepare and support monthly and annual statutory filings, including financial statements as required by local authorities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and local authorities.
Tax Compliance
- Ensure compliance and assist with all Chilean tax obligations, including but not limited to: monthly VAT filings, withholding taxes, annual income tax returns and coordinate preparation, review, and submission of tax filings with internal teams and external advisors as needed.
- Maintain appropriate documentation to support all tax positions and filings.
- Monitor changes in local tax laws and assess impacts on the company.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Establish, document, and maintain strong internal controls over local accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation within accounting and compliance workflows.
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
- Act as a trusted partner to Corporate accounting, tax, payroll, and finance teams.
- Communicate local regulatory requirements and risks clearly to non-local stakeholders.
- Support special projects, audits, and ad hoc requests as needed.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Chilean accounting standards and local tax regulations.
- Proven experience managing month-end close in a corporate or multinational environment.
- Fluent in English (speaking, listening, and writing).
- Experience maintaining statutory books and supporting monthly and annual tax filings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently.
- CPA, Contador Auditor, or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience working in a multinational or high-growth company.
- Prior experience transitioning work from an outsourced provider to an in-house function.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and accounting tools.
- Strong technical accounting and tax expertise
