The position is established for the purpose of supporting the Marine Field. The Assistant Vessel Manager will provide support to Vessel Managers in the day-to-day management of fleet vessels including Technical, Maintenance, Class and Flag State issues.
In total the Fleet Management Team is committed to provide a safe and cost-effective work platform/vessel that operates without disturbances and at optimal efficiency 24/7/365 in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
Technical:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in technical performance of assigned vessel(s), management of critical equipment and spares and day-to-day technical management
Yard:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in planning and execution of yard stays for assigned vessel(s).
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in pit-stop planning and execution.
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in marine subcontractor management.
Planned Maintenance:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in supervising and coordinating the maintenance status of the vessel.
Documentation:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in archiving of all relevant vessel documentation
Finance:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in OPEX budget planning and performance for assigned vessel(s).
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in providing inputs to CAPEX for assigned vessel(s).
Crewing:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in proper manning of assigned vessel(s) in coordination with HR/Crewing Department and to ensure that all guidelines of crew management are followed.
QHSE & Compliance:
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in compliance to QHSE plan, SMS, local, flag state, port state and Class requirements for assigned vessel(s).
- Support Vessel Manager(s) to ensure investigations are initiated on all marine events including breakdowns
- Support Vessel Manager(s) to follow up on marine events and ensure that events are properly analyzed and that corrective actions are identified and implemented.
- Support Vessel Manager(s) to capture lessons learned and ensure Experience Transfers / Lessons Learned are issued.
- Assist Vessel Manager(s) in identifying and reporting needs for SMS changes.
Requirements
- Degree in Naval Architecture and/or Marine Engineering (BEng or equivalent);
- 1-3 years of work experience in a similar role
- Sea going experience will be a strong asset for the scope of this job position;
- Knowledge of design software (AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, etc.);
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language;
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office required;
