Job Summary
Responsible for the accounting and financial operations of the company, including the production of weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and development of policies and procedures to facilitate all accounting-related functions. Ensures reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Oversee the flow of all financial information from the initial transaction through completed financial statements.
Action Property Management is seeking an experienced Controller to join our corporate Accounting & Finance team in our Irvine. This hybrid role will oversee core accounting operations and financial reporting while partnering with leadership to support a growing organization.
Compensation: up to $200k-$225k depending upon experience.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
Own preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements Deliver clear variance analysis, trend insights, and recommendations to leadership Partner closely with FP&A to improve the end product of reporting including account structure, mappings, and clarity of outputs Ensure accurate revenue recognition across complex billing structuresCash Management
Actively manage cash flow in a tight, high-volume environment Oversee frequent movement of funds across accounts while maintaining strong controls and visibility Forecast cash needs and support liquidity planningSystems & Technology
Serve as a strong accounting systems leader with deep Excel proficiency Lead and support accounting operations within Sage Intacct Drive process improvements through better use of technology, automation, and reporting tools Partner with internal teams on system enhancements and integrationsLeadership, Training & Collaboration
Lead and develop a small accounting team, balancing leadership with hands-on support when needed Act as a trainer and collaborator, helping the team understand how their roles and tasks fit in with the bigger picture of the organization Ensure team members understand the end goals behind revenue billing and other core processes Foster strong cross-department collaboration, especially with FP&A, Operations, and Client ServicesControls, Policy & Risk Management
Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure reporting accuracy Identify financial risks and proactively address control gapsCompliance, Audit & Tax
Ensure compliance with all applicable state, federal, and regulatory reporting requirements Coordinate annual audits and maintain audit-ready financials Partner with external tax advisors on tax planning and complianceAP / AR Oversight
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and client billing processes Ensure timely collections, accurate billing, and efficient workflowsStakeholder & Relationship Management
Maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders Serve as a trusted accounting partner to executive leadershipOther duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA or an MBA is strongly preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior financial management position, with a preference for experience in a privately held company.Experience in an HOA environment, standard costs, and basic variance analysis is strongly preferred.Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic planning, and organizational skills.Excellent leadership, team building, and decision-making abilities.Strong communication and presentation skills.Must be well organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and possess a strong work ethic.Must have a high energy level and be a self-starter: · High level of adaptability to pivot and meet changing priorities.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Technical savvy – interest in learning and implementing new technology.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
