The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas’s filmmaking career.
Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with a landscape by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the Museum is in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an 11-acre campus that includes new green space and a 300,000-square-foot building with galleries, two theaters, a library, restaurant, café, retail store, and community spaces.
POSITION SUMMARY
This is a unique opportunity to join the Lucas Museum’s Design department ahead of our opening in September 2026. Together with colleagues across the museum, the Design team brings brand strategy, visual identity, and ideas for exhibitions, programs, visitor experience, marketing, communications, retail, development, and membership to life. We are building a brand system that creates experiences, tells stories, expands conversations, and connects people to art and to one another.
This is a fast-moving role for a designer who is digitally fluent, conceptually agile, and comfortable creating multiple directions in a high-growth start-up environment. Under the direction of the Director of Design, this designer will shape and execute how our brand shows up across digital campaigns, social platforms, motion-forward storytelling, live activations, branded merchandise, and both digital and print materials.
We are looking for a multidisciplinary designer with a strong focus on digital brand, marketing and fluency in motion. This role requires exceptional visual design and typographic skills, and the ability to translate concepts into compelling, story-driven work across digital, print, packaging, interaction, and motion.
A strong portfolio and proven professional experience are essential. We are looking for someone who is committed to excellence and accuracy in execution, and who can build strong, collaborative relationships across departments.
This role will be successful for someone who:
• Can generate multiple viable creative directions quickly and without over-attaching to one solution
• Maintains high craft and typographic rigor under tight timelines
• Is adaptable when feedback evolves or priorities shift
• Balances speed with clarity and brand consistency
• Contributes to building scalable systems
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Conceptualize, develop, and produce high-impact, story-driven design solutions across digital campaigns, marketing initiatives, motion, and select print applications.
· Work both collaboratively and independently to generate multiple creative directions, present clear rationale, and iterate efficiently based on feedback from the Director of Design and cross-functional stakeholders.
· Develop compelling mockups, pitch materials, and presentation decks that communicate design intent and strategic alignment.
· Maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints while contributing to the ongoing evolution and scalability of the museum’s visual identity system.
· Design execution for exhibition campaigns and seasonal awareness initiatives across digital and physical environments, including digital ads, social campaigns, email marketing, OOH placements
and integrated marketing materials.
· Design digital-first fundraising and membership materials in collaboration with the Development team, ensuring clarity, engagement, and conversion-focused thinking.
· Partner closely with Marketing to create digital assets including
lucasmuseum.org features, email newsletters, social media content, and motion-forward storytelling.
· Support emerging brand initiatives including influencer collaborations, experiential activations, and VR/AR touchpoints.
· Manage project-specific administrative tasks including timelines, vendor coordination, asset organization, and internal communications to ensure efficient execution in a fast-paced environment.
