Due to continuous growth and expansion, Pharmathen Pharmaceuticals offers a great opportunity for career development and is seeking to recruit an Engineering Team Senior Manager for the Utilities team in our Sapes premises.
As an Engineering Team Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the compliant, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of pharmaceutical utilities and production equipment. The role ensures full compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements, and the company Quality Management System (QMS), while supporting uninterrupted manufacturing and continuous improvement of utility systems critical to product quality.
More particularly:
What you will do:
- Support internal, external, and regulatory audits related to utilities, maintenance, and engineering systems
- Ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of all pharmaceutical utilities, including but not limited to: HVAC systems (Chillers, Cooling towers, AHUs, Pumps), Purified Water (PW), Water for Injection (WFI), Clean and Black steam, Compressed air and gases (N2, LPG), Electrical power and backup systems (Generator, UPS)
- Oversee maintenance of production machinery and utilities, ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance programs are executed effectively
- Maintain complete, accurate, and GMP-compliant maintenance, calibration, and improvement records
- Ensure utilities remain in a validated state and support qualification and requalification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) as required
- Manage maintenance activities regarding utilities within production and quality control areas to ensure compliance with GMP environmental and operational requirements
- Ensure timely resolution of equipment and utility deviations, failures, and alarms
- Initiate and support change control, deviation, CAPA, and risk assessment processes related to utilities and maintenance activities
- Maintain detailed area maintenance records in accordance with data integrity requirements
- Proactively identify opportunities for utility optimization, capacity improvement, energy efficiency, and system upgrades or replacements
- Provide regular maintenance status updates to the Head of Engineering and escalate critical issues impacting product quality or supply
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Validation, and EHS teams to ensure aligned and compliant operations
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical utilities or engineering roles and at least 4 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections (FDA, EMA, MHRA, etc.)
