Job Role: Finance Manager (CPA)
Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $3,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: An established privately owned organisation involved in the development, sourcing, and distribution of consumer goods within the early childhood category. Operating across a mix of internally managed and externally partnered product lines, the business focuses on practical product delivery, consistent service, and maintaining appropriate standards across operations, safety, and environmental practices.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to act as a strategic business partner to the Directors. This role oversees the full spectrum of financial operations, including statutory compliance, board reporting, and treasury management. The Finance Manager will lead the finance team and collaborate closely with Directors to support the company’s ongoing stability, performance, and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Statutory Compliance: Manage the timely lodgement of monthly BAS and Payroll Tax, and Workcover declarations. Assisting external accountants with the annual preparation and submission of FBT, Income Tax returns, and other statutory tasks.
- Management Reporting: Prepare and present monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) and compare with the budget.
- Board Reporting: Compile and present monthly Board Reports highlighting key financial performance metrics.
- Cashflow Management: Manage weekly cashflow reporting and forecasting to ensure liquidity.
- Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process and conduct quarterly forecasting.
- Accounting: Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions including invoicing, supplier payments, reconciliations and credit control. Manage general ledger transactions including journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and fixed assets. Load payments into bank, process and approve domestic and international payments.
Commercial and Strategic Finance
- Commercial Analysis: Conduct pricing reviews, margin analysis, and freight analysis to optimize profitability.
- Treasury Management: Manage Foreign Exchange (FX) exposure and execute hedging strategies to mitigate currency risk. Cashflow management.
- Customer and Supplier Management: Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure favourable commercial terms.
- Manage and update mid-month and end-of-month payments to overseas agent.
- Sales commission: Generate reports to create monthly sales agents commission for payments.
Payroll and Staff Management
- Payroll Operations: Manage end-to-end processing of monthly payroll.
- Superannuation & PAYG: Ensure accurate calculation and payment of Superannuation and PAYG obligations.
- Leave Management: Manage staff leave entitlements and recordkeeping of employee payroll information.
Team Leadership
- Supervision: Manage the daily activities of the finance team, monitor and assist when necessary.
- Performance Management: Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and oversee the training and development of finance staff.
Systems and Process Improvement
- ERP Management: manage ERP system (Odoo), ensuring data integrity and system performance.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements within the finance function and new system modules to increase efficiency.
Business Support and Analysis
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and performance monitoring.
- Partner with operations and sales teams to ensure financial accuracy in purchasing, stock management and invoicing processes.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and system improvements.
General Duties
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties, functions or responsibilities as reasonably directed by Management.
- Attend regular and ad-hoc meetings as required.
- At all times, comply with all firm policies, procedures, and operational processes.
- Always maintain professional standards of conduct in line with the company’s values and expectations.
Requirements
- Must have 5+ years of experience as a Finance Manager or in Financial Control
- CA/CPA qualified
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce or Finance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role within a product-based or import/distribution business.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and taxation compliance.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Odoo, Navision) and advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently.
- Proven track record of managing and mentoring a finance team to drive performance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.
