Financial Controller (Based In Japan)

Job Summary:

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations, and driving financial efficiency. This role requires expertise in digital asset accounting, blockchain technology, and crypto-related financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in traditional finance and proven experience in the digital asset or crypto industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management and Reporting:

• • • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring alignment with crypto accounting standards and evolving industry regulations.
    • Manage the financial implications of digital asset transactions, including token holdings, cryptocurrency payments, and on-chain/off-chain reconciliations.
    • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and crypto-specific reporting frameworks.

• Budgeting and Forecasting:

• • • Lead the annual budgeting process, integrating both fiat and digital asset components.
    • Develop financial forecasts and models, incorporating market volatility and digital asset valuations.
    • Monitor and report on variances, providing actionable insights to senior management.

• Digital Asset Management:

• • • Manage the accounting and custody of digital assets, ensuring security and accurate valuation.
    • Implement robust internal controls for wallet management, transactions, and token issuance.
    • Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with crypto operations, including price volatility and regulatory changes.

• Compliance and Risk Management:

• • • Stay updated on global crypto regulations and ensure compliance with applicable tax and reporting obligations.
    • Work closely with external auditors and legal teams to meet industry-specific requirements.
    • Monitor financial risks related to crypto operations and implement mitigation strategies.

• Strategic Financial Planning:

• • Support senior management with financial insights, emphasizing the unique dynamics of the digital asset market.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities in the crypto space, such as token projects, staking, or DeFi strategies.
  • Contribute to long-term financial strategies that align with the company’s growth in the blockchain and crypto ecosystem.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) are highly preferred.
• Certifications or training in blockchain technology, digital asset management, or crypto regulations are a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role.
• Proven experience in the digital asset, cryptocurrency, or blockchain industry is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of crypto accounting practices, blockchain transactions, and tokenomics.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and crypto-specific financial regulations.
• Proficiency in financial software and blockchain tools (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, blockchain explorers, wallet management platforms).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex crypto concepts to stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal Japanese and Mandarin skills are required.
