Head of Engineering
THE ROLE
- Own end-to-end delivery of the product and tech roadmap, ensuring all solutions are technically achievable, aligned with long-term strategy and providing transparent communication to stakeholders.
- Provide strategic leadership to the Tech team.
- Champion engineering excellence by embedding best practices and disciplined decision-making into the team's daily workflow.
- Cultivate a high-performance culture rooted in psychological safety, autonomy, and continuous growth.
- Collaborate with Product and Design to plan roadmaps and ensure strategic goals are feasible and well-planned.
- Optimise delivery processes by implementing "just enough" structure to maintain visibility and accountability without slowing down velocity.
- Lead transformative tech initiatives, managing cross-team dependencies to ensure smooth execution.
Qualifications
THIS PERSON IS SOMEONE WITH
- Proven experience leading engineering teams (headcount of 15–50+) in a fast-paced, highly innovative scale-up environment – preferably in a Financial Services organisation.
- A strong track record of delivering complex strategic roadmaps that have significant business impact on time.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, ability to bridge technical and non-technical worlds.
- Strong full-stack engineering background with experience in cloud native, microservices architectures. Experience in Typescript, Node, React, AWS preferred.
- A passion for people development, coaching, and building high-retention cultures.
- Pragmatic approach to process, favouring agility over rigid bureaucracy.
