Our client is part of an international group that provides reinsurance and financial risk solutions across multiple jurisdictions. The organization focuses on asset-intensive life and annuity portfolios, including a range of life insurance and annuity products.
Committed to high standards of professionalism, integrity, and innovation, the company is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its Finance team. This role will take a hands-on approach to key financial operations, with responsibility for investment accounting, corporate accounting activities, statutory reporting across multiple regulatory jurisdictions, and supporting multi-jurisdictional tax compliance. The position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial reporting and supporting the broader finance function within a regulated environment.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform day-to-day investment accounting activities, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Coordinate with outsourced investment accounting providers, custodians, and asset managers
- Prepare investment-related internal and board reporting
- Support onboarding of new investment managers and custodians, and reinsurance transactions
- Corporate accounting & accounts payable perform general corporate accounting activities, including month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Hands-on responsibility for accounts payable function, including invoice processing, payment execution, and maintaining audit evidence
- Financial (life reinsurance) reporting support us stat financial statements preparation and filing, including detailed workpapers
- Prepare/support Bermuda statutory reporting
- Prepare/support IFRS reporting
- Support auditors (external, and internal) during audits and filings
- Tax compliance & oversight prepare/support tax computations for united states (federal and state), Ireland, and Bermuda
- Oversee tax compliance by actively managing external tax advisors, including review of tax returns, computations, provisions, and disclosures
- Support internal controls, documentation, and audit processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes in a regulated environment
What you’ll need
- Professional accounting designation (ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification financial reporting/accounting or Big 4 experience
- Experience with investment accounting, particularly fixed income instruments, equity type, and derivatives
- Hands-on experience with Clearwater Analytics is an asset
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Hands-on experience with US corporate tax computations for a life reinsurer, with the ability to manage external tax advisors
- High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and ability to operate independently
- Hands on experience with BMA reporting and regulations for a life reinsurer, preferred
