As a Human Resources Specialist on people and culture, at Reid's Palace, a Belmond Hotel, Madeira, you will play a pivotal part in cultivating a positive and engaging work environment, enhancing employee well being and driving cultural initiatives. This position will collaborate closely with leadership team Department Heads, and the Communication Manager to implement strategies that promote staff satisfaction, development, and community engagement.
The Main Responsibilities are:
Culture & Well-being:
- Develop and implement strategies to embed company values and foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging company culture.
- Lead initiatives to drive cultural change, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and employee feedback.
- Organize and facilitate company-wide events and activities that promote team cohesion and celebrate achievements.
- Act as a champion for the company culture, ensuring its values are integrated into daily operations and employee experiences.
- Develop and implement initiatives focused on staff wellbeing, mental health, and work-life balance.
- Organize and manage social activities, team-building events, and recognition programs for employees.
- Coordinate community involvement and volunteer work initiatives, fostering a strong connection with the local community.
Employee Engagement & Development:
- Design and execute programs that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for employees, addressing concerns and fostering a supportive work environment.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement effective talent management strategies, including performance management, career development, and succession planning.
- Oversee learning and development initiatives, identifying training needs and coordinating relevant programs.
- Work closely with Heads of Departments to analyse staff satisfaction and provide support in the events and specific action plans
- Support Heads of Departments in the implementation and follow-up of action plans derived from pulse surveys and other feedback.
- Review job descriptions and prepare together with the HOD, checklist for onboarding of new employees for the most operational recruited positions
- Track and follow up on individual development plans established after career conversations and performance evaluation, ensuring progress and supporting employee growth.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with the Communication Manager to ensure effective internal communication of HR initiatives, cultural events, and important announcements.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to culture, well-being programs, and HR initiatives.
HR Support:
In case of need can provide support to the
- Recruitment process and onboarding new employees.
- Assist in the coordination and organisation of training and development programs.
- Undertake any other HR tasks and projects as required by the HR Director or General Manager
Requirements
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Hotel Management or related.
- Previous experience (2 years) in an HR, People & Culture in any industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and creative approach to problem-solving.
- A genuine passion for people, culture, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
